Oakland Reads

Oakland Reads is a community initiative aimed at empowering families and educators with resources to support children’s literacy beyond the classroom. The organization approached Paradigm Shift to create a full brand identity and interactive website that would reflect their educational mission while remaining approachable, accessible, and inclusive.

Our design team developed a vibrant visual identity rooted in warmth, clarity, and community connection. The logo system, color palette, and typography were chosen to evoke trust and optimism, appealing to both parents and educators. On the web, we focused on usability: crafting an intuitive interface that allows visitors to easily explore reading milestones, data, and local initiatives.

Accessibility and inclusivity were central to the project. The website was designed to be fully responsive, accessible to all users, and available in six languages, ensuring that families across Oakland can engage with the content in their preferred language.

We continue to support the Oakland Reads team with annual updates and resource expansions, maintaining a cohesive digital experience that grows alongside the community it serves.
